Dancing at the 60th Annual Emmys

So in case you didn't hear, I danced at the Emmy's with Josh Groban. :) It was such a great experience. (I'm third from Josh).

Overall, WOW, what a surreal experience. We'll start with rehearsals...

We had about one hour to learn the little "Rockette style" routine AND get fitted before we actually went to the Nokia to rehearse with Josh. Yeah, Josh Groban, my mom was freaking out about that one.

When it came down do doing our big number in front of producers...we were horrible. Something non-dancers should know, there is a HUGE reason for dress rehearsal...the stage was so huge we kept running into each other and kicking, sliding, etc...PLUS we had to change all the choreography (and costumes...glad we had that HUGE fitting the night before, right?) once we got there. We felt a little bit like remedial can-can dancers and weren't really surprised that we were asked to stand behind Lauren Conrad (The Hills) and face the wall...but that is a whole different story...

Josh Groban was a wonderful person to work with, so friendly and approachable. He came in and shook all our hands introducing himself, "Hi! I'm Josh." etc etc. We were like..."Yeah, we know" (blush). I guess you just think mega stars will just be like..."of course you know who I am, muahhaha...commoner! Now get to dancing!" Yeah, that's not how it went down. Props to him for taking on such a challenge to sing that song with so many different characters. After working on voice over myself, my hat really goes off to such an incredible vocal talent.

During rehearsals, the stadium was filled with large head shot photos of actors' seating arrangements.

ANYWAY, It was a long night of rehearsals, fittings, changing outfits, getting fitted again, and when rehearsals were over I was wishing that I had a new set of feet and hamstrings.

When it came time to dance we all felt a little weak in the knees, but the adrenaline rush that comes when you hear the music, see the lights of the audience, and watch the girl in front of you walk into the stage light, somehow manages to put you in the necessary "performance trance" and all went great. Now its just time that I lobby with Tony D. to get me on one of the production numbers for "Dancing with the Stars." :) It's fun to revive my dancing career every now and then.

Latest Dance Minute! Just one more before we go on Hiatus :)

It's about time for an update...

Well, hmmm considering that the last blog entry was over a year ago, time to do some updating. :)

For the last eight months, I have traded in my acting auditions for a full-time job hosting and producing for a new ballroom website called www.ballroomdancechannel.com. I have missed the creative side of acting but have loved exploring the hosting world.

I have done everything from being content producer for fun, dance-related topics to calling the shots with instructional on-line dance lessons. (If you've always wanted to learn how to dance...get your pocket book ready...we launch in September). I have done over 40 voice over pieces, from instructional lessons to promos. I have been on-camera hosting and interviewing top dancers from hit TV shows like "Dancing with the Stars," and "So you think you can dance?" Since I started out dancing, it has been a fun balance to work both on and off camera with a topic I am so passionate about.

Hey guys!
I just finished filming a promo in conjunction with the Emerald Ball, one of the nation's largest Ballroom Dance Competitions. I had such a great time, there really is nothing like rhinestones and fake tanner. I interviewed Randall Christensen, the mastermind behind all the beautiful costumes on Dancing With the Stars, he let me try on a bunch of the dresses from the show. :) Why is it that a $5000 dress feels so good to wear? I also interviewed professional dancer Tony Dovolani, from season 2,3, and 4 of Dancing with the Stars. That footage will be shown on the new broadband station http://www.ballroomdancechannel.com/ I am really excited for that.

I also interviewed several of the top competitors at the competition. Stay tuned because the footage will be up on my website soon. :)

Welcome to the official Hilary Fleming blog.

I will be posting updated career info, thoughts and ideas so you can keep up with the ins and outs of an aspiring artist. :)

I have several projects in development. I am developing a web-based series with Gretta Parkinson (Hollywood Reporter) and Rachel MacKay Smart (Oxygen). Think Napoleon Dynamite meets Sex and the City. We are scheulded to begin filming in late May. Check in soon for more updates and links to view our original content. :)
